What is stomach vacuuming and how to do it?
It is a move that requires you to inhale deeply and exhale forcefully while pulling your belly button in toward your spine as hard as you can. To perform the stomach vacuuming, stand upright and place your hands on your hips, and exhale all the air out of your lungs, completely. Expand your chest, and bring your stomach in as much as possible, and hold visualize trying to touch your navel to your backbone. Then exhale with full force. Also, try bicycle crunches or a flat belly.
How does the exercise work?
Stomach vacuuming works by targeting your transverse abdominis; a muscle deep inside your abdominal wall that can be hard to target with the typical core exercises. But if you are doing it to get rid of your pouch, you need to combine it with a healthy diet and some other types of physical activity. Yes the can give you a flat stomach, but if your goal is to have a sculpted mid-section, this should not be your go-to move. The move is not enough stimulus to burn calories, to shed fat or to build muscle.
Is stomach vacuuming worth doing?
While the exercise will not blast tons of fat or give you a ballerina posture, it can teach you the correct way to breathe during a workout. Working on your air capacity during exercise can lead to better performance at the gym which undoubtedly means that you will be scoring a hot body at the gym.
